Product Information: Ever since the use of TBT-based antifouling paint was restricted in 1989 it
has been difficult to find a coating system to apply over it without the use of
a primer. Primers are needed to increase adhesion and prevent blistering and
cracking in the new antifouling. This meant applying 3 coats of paint – 1 coat
of primer and 2 coats of antifouling paint. Micron® 55™ has been designed as a
transition coat over TBT antifouling paints prior to applying Micron 66™. Micron
66 is the latest in Self-Polishing Copolymer technology, which provides the best
antifouling protection for extended service. Micron 55 is an effective
antifouling paint that uses Biolux® Technology to control slime and algae
growth. Micron 55 also serves as a signal coat under Micron 66 to show when it
is time to repaint.
Micron 55 is for use below the waterline only.
